Movies, like poker, can result in some unexpected combinations. Who knew, for example, that the director of L.A. Confidential and the screenwriter of The Insider and Munich, working together, would add up to a losing hand?. A movie with prostitutes, guns, boxing and Reno is crying out for the film noir treatment. Along with neon signs in the desert, give us some terse dialogue and some fatalism..
